I live at 8,500 feet in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. When I was 54 years old, I came down with what I thought was a bad flu. When it kept worsening, I ended up in the hospital on IV antibiotics, morphine and oxygen for two days. I felt that I was suffocating, had an unrelenting migraine for five days and could not eat or drink. When I was admitted, my blood oxygen level was 86, and my platelets, red and white blood cells were all dangerously low. My liver and spleen were inflamed, and I was fevered and delirious, gasping for air.
My recovery took nearly three months, during which I was exhausted and had brain fog. Although I wasn't correctly diagnosed until a year later, the recurring theme and link to the headaches, gasping and fatigue were low blood oxygen. On top of lifelong asthma, this was a real problem for me. (The eventual diagnosis revealed that I have Lyme and babesiosis, tick-borne co-infections. Babesiosis is like malaria in that it attacks red blood cells, leading to low oxygen and "air hunger".)
Luckily, within a few weeks of my discharge, I purchased a Live O2 adaptive contrast oxygen machine. This was the turning point and helped bring me back to health. I used it daily for many months, up to an hour each session, and then continued less frequently over the following year or so. It was the essential component in restoring my respiratory capacity, my strength, energy, clarity of mind, and sense of hope.
Whenever my boyfriend or I feel tired or run down, or when I have a headache, I use the Live O2 AC. Sometimes I use it passively without the bike. I usually use the bike, which requires me to move my body, increasing my heart rate and temperature, and is, therefore, a great energizer. I feel both relaxed and invigorated after a session. My stamina and resilience increase at a pace that works for me. I'm so grateful for this technology, based on our body's natural respiratory and circulatory systems and free of harmful pharmaceuticals.
